Each year a new group of students sign up for a course in the Ohio University School of Visual Communication program called "Soul of Athens" and a new iteration of this project is born. Now in its fourth year, the 2010 Soul of Athens team seeks to carry on the tradition of defining the vibrant and diverse community in and around Athens, Ohio.
This year we will take you on a journey where you can explore the Soul of Athens at an easy, inviting pace. We've focused our stories through the lens of five themed editions: Experience, Passage, Expression, Shelter, and Thrive. One edition will be released every two weeks.
This year we are integrating social media tools for Facebook and Twitter in a unique way. You will be able to connect with the pulse of Athens and we hope you will feel welcome to participate in the dialog. We are also providing richly featured interactive PDFs, a mashup feature called "Soul Mixer" and the site is optimized for mobile phones. Be sure to push a lot of buttons on the site, you don't want to miss anything.
Produced by students at Ohio University’s School of Visual Communication and E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, the award-winning Soul of Athens constantly strives to set the bar for visual storytelling and has been placed in the same competitive arena as National Geographic, The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times.
