I think one thing I miss when I go back to India is the smiling faces around here in Athens.

Betsy:

When I came here a there were people a who were greeting me by saying, “what’s up?” And I was thinking, well, what’s up? The sky is up (laughs).

Betsy:

My name is Betsy, and this is my husband Briju.

Betsy:

We are involved in the Campus Crusade for Christ. We have a bible study on Saturday’s at our home. It’s intended for the international students; that’s a lot of fun. It’s like we are brought here for a purpose. I’m into plant biology, and so I’m here for a PhD.

Briju:

I am doing my um PhD in instructional technology. I’m a second year student.

Betsy:

I miss India. I actually miss India a lot.

Betsy:

Something that we miss here is the involvement of family members in our lives because after the child is born we usually have the family being here and guiding us.

I’m a little bit scared, but I know everything will be fine.

Betsy:

We are a little bit concerned about our child growing up here.

We want the baby to grow up so that he or she has Indian values, and her or she could get back to the states for higher education. Until then I think we want to be in India for the baby to grow up.

Betsy:

We are going back because after coming here my mentality has changed, and we plan to use our a expertise to the people there.
